Soon to be Gathering Dust Stealing Hearts Everywhere ...

I'm not terribly adept at self-promotion - I'd be better served by hiring someone who's paid to say gushingly splendid things about me (although being married to Mr. This Cat's Not Abroad helps) - but it has been suggested by the one man who didn't return my manuscript to me with a scathing note that I should say a few words about my forthcoming book.

Did she say book? you ask.

I did.

No, we must have been mistaken, you insist.

You were not.

Yes, the days of wallpapering the spare bedrooms of our homes and lining our kitchen shelves with my rejection letters are over. Vox Humana, an independent publisher - to my most profound astonishment - has accepted my anthology of über-s
narky travel scribblings for publication. Stealing Fatima's Hand: a Moroccan Sojourn is set to steal hearts go unnoticed but nonetheless make my Mom proud in the spring of 2010 - or thereabouts.

Updates will follow.

Huzzah for me!

Three cheers and a tiger for you! Make sure the books editor at the Globe and Mail gets an advance copy.

Imagine me finding you. Through Twitter of all places. I've loathed it since my first tweet, but continued to plow ahead with this insidious phenomenon of social networking. I'm a writer too. One too, that's been awash while bucking the tide. Which simply means I'm thrilled to hear about your book, will buy it the moment it's released, and am thankful to Twitter for the introduction. Wow, I honestly thought saying such a thing would be over my dead body. Hmmmm....

I continue to blush ... thanks! Cathy, are you telling me that the Record won't be doing a full spread on my marvellous achievement? Why do you think I've cultivated our friendship for so long?

Cath said...

The Record would be no doubt delighted to review your much-anticipated tome, esp. if you highlight the fact that you spent your formative years frolicking in the shadow of Sunnyside Home. But the people who actually buy books read the Globe's book section.
I'm just thinking of you and the Costa del Sol, toots.

Cathy, methinks you are maligning your newspaper.

Cath said...

Not at all. We have a books page. Not a section -- one page. Once a week. I'd tell you to check it out on the Record website, but it appears no one has updated that particular area since June.
We rock.

Cool blog you got here. I'd like to read something more concerning that theme. Thank you for sharing this info.
